Sawa camp restaurant
delicious home-cooked local and international dishes
At Sawa Camp we cook all our meals using as much fresh local produce as possible.
Our chef sources local herbs, fruits and vegetables to use and our seafood is bought fresh every day from local fishermen, while the honey and olive oil are all provided by a nearby farm.
Our extensive menu features something for everyone. There is a range of Middle Eastern dishes (such as masaga, tagines, kofte and grills, bamia, and falafel) but if you feel like something more familiar we also have a variety of international meals available, from pizza and pasta to curries and stews. There is a large choice of healthy salads and, being beside the beach, we obviously have a delicious array of fish and other seafood meals. We are also able to serve some wonderful traditional Bedouin specialities.
There are plenty of breakfast options to choose, from a healthy fruit salad and yoghurt to hearty omelettes and pancakes and local breakfast foods (such as shakshuka and fuul).
As well as main meals, our menu has a number of great snack items that can be ordered if you’re only feeling peckish.
There are plenty of vegetarian options available.
We have a range of freshly-squeezed juices, soft drinks and hot drinks on the menu.
Some of our recommended dishes:
Seafood
Red Sea fish such as grouper and spangled emperor fish feature on our menu and you are able to order your favourite seafood cooked in either a Western or traditional Middle Eastern way.
Bedouin specialities
These special dishes have to be ordered a few hours in advance as they take time to prepare and to cook:
This dish uses either chicken or lamb which is cooked to succulent perfection with rice and vegetables over a long time period.
A local dish of the Aqaba Gulf, this is a delicious fish stew, cooked with rice.
This is a casserole-type dish, cooked in a sealed plate in the oven for a few hours and can be ordered either with meat, chicken or vegetarian.
More main dishes:
Baima – okra: in tomato sauce
Stews: masaga; eggplant stew, vegetables stew, lentil stew and more…
On the menu you will find also falafel, foul and other dishes.
Besides all the main dishes you can have Arabic salad, smoked baba ganoush dip (eggplant), and tahini (sesame cream)
We also make fresh juices, and zaki (delicious) Arabic coffee as well as herbal teas.
