From Diving to Desert Treks – Sawa Camp can organise it all
The Sinai has much to offer visitors.
The Red Sea doesn’t just have to be a beach holiday. If you want to add some adventure into your holiday, or just want a break from working on your tan, there are plenty of opportunities to dive (the Red Sea is one of the top diving spots in the world), and short trips you can take in the surrounding craggy mountains of the Sinai. It is also possible to include a visit to Jordan’s Nabataean city of Petra during your stay.
Snorkeling
IWe are lucky enough to have an incredible coral reef, home to a rich variety of marine life and perfect for snorkelling, right on our doorstep – just a few minutes swim from the beach.
The visibility is amazing making it easy to spot angel and butterflyfish, lionfish and clownfish along with rarer species.
You can hire all the snorkelling gear you need from us for 25 EGP per day.
SCUBA diving
The Red Sea is a diver’s dream and rightly regarded as one of the world’s most famous and popular diving destinations. There is a wealth of opportunities for those who wish to explore the fascinating underwater world off the Sinai coast.
At Sawa Camp we can organise diving excursions for all levels of ability as well as introductory dives for complete beginners. The diving company we utilise, uses only PADI certified instructors and dive-masters.
Climbing Mount Sinai (Jebel Mousa)
If you are able to drag yourself away from the beach, why not follow in the footsteps of Moses on the Sinai’s most famous mountain where the Ten Commandments were first revealed. A trek to the summit of this holy mountain rewards you with magnificent views.
While in the area you can also visit the Greek Orthodox Monastery of St Katherine, home to the burning bush.
Sinai Desert Treks
The best way to appreciate the stark natural beauty of the Sinai desert is to trek out into the wilderness with a local Bedouin guide.
We can organise all-inclusive camel/hiking treks (one day or longer) that take you deep into the beautiful, colourful canyons of the North Sinai such as Coloured Canyon, White Canyon and Rainbow Canyon, as well as peaceful Green Oasis which is only a short distance from Sawa Camp.
If you choose an overnight trip you’ll be lucky enough to experience the true Bedouin lifestyle; eating dinner beside the fire before snuggling into a sleeping bag to fall asleep under the vast star-filled desert sky.
All trips include local Bedouin meals and the services of English-speaking and professionally qualified local Bedouin guides.
Petra
It’s no wonder Jordan’s Nabataean city of Petra has been heralded as one of the world’s new 7 Wonders. This magical site of majestic facades chiselled into sheer rock faces, has been awing travellers for years. We can organise a one-day round trip to the site including all arrangements (visa, transportation, ferry, professional guide and lunch in Petra).
Don’t miss the opportunity; you’re already in the neighbourhood!
